Conditions of Application:
1. Applicants will be interviewed by the council and, if approved, will be asked to give a 10/15 minute audition before the Members at the next appropriate meeting of the society. The audition is intended to ensure only magicians or those with a genuine interest in magic are afforded membership.
2. Upon completion of the audition, the Applicant will leave the meeting. A vote by the members will be taken to determine whether the Applicant has been successful or not, the result of which will be notified to the Applicant in writing by the secretary.
3. Successful candidates will be afforded Associate membership of the society upon remittance of a £50 joining fee and one year’s subscription of £50.
4. Associates may be elected to Member status not less than 12 months after admission to the society as an Associate and providing:
a) The candidate has regularly attended meetings and has endeavoured to abide by the objects of the society, and
b) The candidates audition showed competence in the art of performing magic as determined by the members present at the audition. Candidates may re-audition as applicable.
5. Members are eligible to attend all meetings of the society and are eligible for full benefits of the society including:
a) Admission to lectures at “Member” rate.
b) Regular newsletters.
c) Use of the society reference library.
d) Eligibility to enter society competitions.
e) Eligibility to vote in society competitions.
f) Eligibility to vote in AGM and membership applications.
g) Use of “Member of the Newcastle Upon Tyne Magic Circle” in advertising and publicity so long as subscriptions are paid in full.
6. Associates of the society are eligible for benefits of the society as listed above WITH THE EXCEPTION OF (f) and (g)
